I was sitting in Math class staring at the teacher’s math equations when I heard a oo-oo-ee-ahh-ah. I looked at the window and a brown monkey was sitting there and eating a ripe banana. I burst out laughing cause the monkey looked really funny. The teacher was staring at me but I just pointed at the monkey and then the whole class started laughing. I walked up to the monkey and then just dabbed him up. And he just followed me at the thing I was doing. But right when I was about to go back to my seat he jumped on my shoulder and with his little black olive-like eyes he stared at me. I just gave him a head pat and let him sit on my shoulder for the rest of the class. While I was studying I guess he was studying too because he was looking at the board with a lot of concentration. I gave him a pencil and paper and he started writing some stuff. With a bright smile on my face I gave him a little cookie from my backpack and he munched on it while doing the work. Once class was over me and he went to the lunch hall, I gave him 2 bananas and got some rice for myself. Once we were done we went to the next class. But the teacher questioned why I had the monkey. I explained the whole thing and she allowed me to have the monkey in class. The same thing happened for all the classes till school ended. When I reached home my parents were staring at me in complete confusion. After what it felt like hours they asked why I had a monkey on the shoulder. I told them the whole thing and begged them so I could keep him. I guess the monkey understood because he also started pleading. My parents started laughing and said I can keep it. With joy in me. I took him to my room and made a full apartment for him which he could stay in… And we became lifetime buddies 😀
Everyday in school children go to the cafeteria to eat food. Some bring from home, while others eat at school. After reviewing the menu there are a lot of foods which are unhealthy and are getting served on a daily basis. I thought of going into more detail and started interviewing people to ask what they think about this huge problem.
Out of 17 people I interviewed 58.8% said that maybe Taylor serves healthy food to children. 17.6% said they serve unhealthy food and 23.5% said they are serving healthy food. I thought to ask “Which day’s lunch menu do children like the most?” The answers were all over the place. The only strange thing was that no one liked Monday’s lunch menu. The next thing I did was dive into research and try to answer the question. After a lot of research I was not able to answer that question as there was no explanation to it. My next question was if people think we should change the lunch menu. 43.8% said maybe, 37.5% said yes, and 18.8% said no. The next question was really interesting “Do any foods keep children energized?” A whoppin 71.4% said no and 28.6% said yes. A lot of people said that something that has a lot of Sugar keeps them awake.Some say pizza, and fast food keeps them energized and awake for the rest of the day. This tells me that a lot of people think that maybe the school menu can be changed.
This lunch menu is not healthy.There are a lot of things on the menu that are good for children. Like they serve celery everyday and some schools also give fruits to children. The only problem is that this is the only healthy thing they serve. Every other food they serve is really unhealthy like chicken nuggets, burgers, pizza, tacos, etc. This might not be the healthiest option for children as they all are fried and filled with oil. A lot of foods they serve for breakfast are froot loops, Cap’n crunch, Choco puffs, etc. These are not healthy too as they have large amounts of sugar and artificial sweeteners. Even if these foods might be tasty and maybe your mouth might be watering right now after you heard these foods, these are not good for us and if we keep eating these types of foods we might get obese and might have diabetes when we are old. Schools should give healthier foods to children so they will be fit and healthy.
As every child is different, some are veg and some are non-veg. For breakfast every child should have fruits mixed in yogurt. This is yummy as there are different types of fruits like strawberries, apples, grapes, and berries. This is also good for their health as they are getting a variety of nutrients at the same time. For lunch schools can serve chicken breasts, rice and dal, sometimes fish, salads, etc. This is only for the non-vegetarian children as they are not only getting some vitamins and minerals from the rice and dal, but they are also getting a lot of protein due to the chicken breasts. For the vegetarian children the school can serve rice and dal, salads, bread, etc. In this case, children are getting mostly the same nutrients as the non-vegetarian children. There can be more foods they can serve I don’t know. As long as it is in a balanced diet everything is good.
My conclusion will be that if children eat healthy food they will grow and not have major health problems in the future. I wish you understood me and can change the menu of our schools. Thank you for reading!.
Most of us have heard of Alan Shepard. The first U.S Astronaut to go to space. But have you ever thought about the brains behind this mission? Well it was a African-American woman called Katherine Johnson, also known as “The Human Computer. Katherine Johnson born in 1918 in White Sulfur Springs. Katherine Johnson was smart from her childhood. At the bright age of 14 she passed highschool and at 18 graduated college. Everyone knew that she was really smart, however Katherine herself didn’t know that. After college she became a teacher teaching children math. In 1953 NASA was hiring black mathematicians and they just introduced this to even girls. Being the first woman in a room of all white men. She proved that she was smarter than all of them. People called her a Human Computer because of how smart she was. In 1961 she helped with the “Freedom 7 Mission,” calculating the trajectories and flight paths of the space shuttle. Basically everything was in her hands. In 1969 she also calculated the trajectories and flight paths for the Apollo 11 mission. I think now we know why people called her a human calculator. On February 24th Katherine Johnson died at a whopping age of 102. A great woman who will never be forgotten

Today I woke up and heard someone cheering. When I looked out it was a boy. If you don’t know me, my name is Robert and I am a 7th grader and a detective. That’s what I think, my parents tell me that I am not a detective. But I think I am. I heard the boy say that he was cheering for winning a race, so I went down and asked “why are you cheering for just winning a running race?” He said “just a race!!” I defeated the fastest runner in the colony. In shock, I said that you are joking, no one can defeat Joe, then he said “ask joe himself”. I went to Joe’s house and asked him about it and then he said yes. I was shocked. I asked him how he did it, but he didn’t tell me.
Monday
Today in school everyone was cheering for the boy defeating Joe. I asked him what his name was. He told me his name was Samuel. Then the bell rang and it was time to go to math class. After math class, we went to science class. Then, we went for breakfast and everyone was talking about Samuel. No one talked to joe. I felt sad for him, so I went and talked to him. After breakfast, we went to history class. After history class, we went to social studies class. After my favorite period recess, we went to French class, and then we went to lunch. At lunch I went to sit with my friends. But because they get their breakfast from home, I cannot sit with them. After lunch, we had our last period of English. We hopped on our bus and were about to go home. I was pretty excited as we were going to my aunt and uncle’s house. The favorite thing I like about their house is that they have this huge bungalow which has a farm and a pool. The two things I like the most are the family sword which has been there for years with us. My uncle told me that when I grow up I will own this house, and I am pretty happy about it. The second thing I like are the horses on their farm. They have five horses and I love the fifth one because it is soft and beautiful, also it is the fastest and the best part is that it loves me. This time when I visited their home it was not like before, clean and neat, and the farm was also very messy, it was not clean and my uncle and aunty were sad. We asked them what had happened? Then, aunty Lisa told me that the sword was stolen. Uncle Tony said that someone pushed all the furniture when they were going. I asked what had happened? because this was the time that I could show my detective skills. I asked them when they saw the sword. They said last week. After a lot of questions, I had 4 suspects:
So, we went to farmer Larry and asked him where he was yesterday. So he told us that he was getting some hay from the shop because there was no hay. Uncle Tony said that is true. Farmer Larry said he was going to the shop to get some hay. Next, we went to Rome. We asked him the same question, he said that he had taken a holiday yesterday. Uncle Tony said that was true. Then we went to Plumber Mason and asked what he did yesterday, he said that he came in the morning and went away. Then uncle Tony said that he did not know about that. Then he got a call, so he told me that he had to go. I said ok. Then we had the last suspect butcher dore. We asked him where he was yesterday, and he said that he was making food and then he went to his home. Aunty Lisa told us that she didn’t know because when he made the food they were sleeping. After listening, I thought that it was plumber mason because he had money problems. Maybe he took the sword and he sold it, so that he could get some money. When I told everyone about this, they told me that plumber mason would not do this, instead he would ask for money. They said that it should be butcher dore because he can do stuff like that as he just started working a few weeks ago. But I thought It was plumber mason. So I still was on that case getting information on butcher dore and plumber mason. I went to plumber mason normally and asked him “what would he do if he found a phone that cost millions of dollars? Would you give it to your best friend or sell it? Then he paused for a second and said that he would’ve given it to his friend. Then I went away. I asked butcher the same question but he said the complete opposite and said that he would’ve sold it. I was shocked but very happy. I said it was PLUMBER MASON. My family was shocked and they asked “how did I say it was plumber mason.” Then I told them the question and what their answers were. After hearing that, they said it should be butcher dore, but I told them that plumber mason said the answer was to refrain from getting caught and we would have thought it was butcher dore. After they heard that, they said yes and we went to plumber mason. He told that he was sorry before we started talking to him. He also gave us the sword back but aunt Lisa was not happy that he stole it. So she asked why he stole it. He said that his family was in serious trouble and he wouldn’t get his salary till next month, so he had to steal it. Then aunt Lisa said that he could’ve asked for a loan from her. He said that he forgot about it and said that he was sorry. They said it was okay, and then everyone was praising me for solving the case and my mother and father were also happy.

This book is about 270 pages of pure adventure and fiction. The book is divided into 35 chapters each chapter is close to 16 pages long. It might seem this is a short book but the pages are pretty long. It is also a wordy book, so keep checking all the words you find in your way. My opinion is to keep a dictionary or a phone beside you to check all the words. Make a google doc or take a notebook and write all the new words you find.

He and his 2 friends, Huckleberry Finn and Joe Harper became pirates and started roaming the world looking for treasure.
Who will like this book and who will notIf you are the type of guy who likes books with fewer pictures, this can be the book for you. If you read books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid or Big Nate and like reading those types of books, you might just like the book. If you read the About this book section, you can tell that this book is about a boy who is like Greg or Nate as all of them have one thing in common. They like to do mischief and they don’t like school. Tom Sawyer does not have as many pictures as the other 2 books, but still it has some humor and adventures about the boy. If books with a bit of love interest you. You might just like this book. There is not a big love story, just a teeny-tiny one. It goes like this, Tom Sawyer likes this girl called Becky Thatcher. They start liking each other, but one time Tom said that he used to like a girl long ago. That made Becky sad and broke up with him. Tom is trying to win her heart back. It is a pretty interesting story about a 12 year old boy and his adventures. Mark Twain has written the story pretty well with some ups and downs. In my opinion you should read the book as it is pretty good.
